The agency “failed” in protecting the president after former President Trump was injured during a campaign rally earlier this month, Secret Service Director Kimberly Seitle told lawmakers on Monday.
“The Secret Service’s mission is to protect our nation’s leaders. On July 13, we failed. As the director of the United States Secret Service, I take full responsibility for any security lapses,” Seittle planned to say, according to scheduled comments.
“We must learn from what happened, and I would move heaven and earth to prevent an incident like July 13 from happening again. Thinking about what we should have done differently is never far from my thoughts.
