- Close or intimate contact with people in a social network experiencing monkeypox, including meeting partners through an online website, digital app, or social event
- Recent travel outside the United States to a country with monkeypox or to a country where monkeypox is endemic, or
- Contact with a dead or alive African wild animal or exotic pet or use products derived from such animals (game meat, creams, lotions, powders, etc.)
