Hurricane Oscar has formed off the Bahamas

The The National Hurricane Center in Miami says Hurricane Oscar Formed off the coast of the Bahamas.

The Bahamas government has issued a hurricane warning for the Turks and Caicos Islands and parts of the southeastern Bahamas. The Cuban government has issued a hurricane watch for the provinces of Guantanamo, Holguin and Las Dunas.

The Hurricane Center said heavy rain is possible over the Turks and Caicos and southeastern Bahamas tonight and tomorrow. Rain is also expected to spread to eastern Cuba on Sunday.

The storm’s maximum sustained winds are 80 mph with maximum gusts. Its center was located about 165 miles east-southeast of the southeastern Bahamas and 470 miles east of Camagüey, Cuba.
