Tesla CEO Elon Musk says the electric car maker will begin manufacturing and using humanoid robots next year.
In a social media post, Mr Musk said the robots will be first used by Tesla, which will start selling them in 2026.
The tech billionaire previously said the robot, called Optimus, would be ready for use in Tesla factories by the end of the year.
Other companies, including Honda and Boston Dynamics, are also developing their own humanoid robots.
“Next year Tesla will have real useful humanoid robots in low production for internal use, and in 2026 mass production for other companies,” Mr Musk said on his social media site X.
This comes a day before Tesla releases its latest financial results.
The company’s shares rose more than 5% in Monday’s trading session on Wall Street.
He previously said that Tesla aims for the robots to be mass-produced and cost less than $20,000 (£17,900) each.
Mr Musk is known for setting ambitious deadlines for his companies, which he doesn’t always meet.
In 2019, he said he is “very confident” that Tesla will have self-driving taxis on the road within the next year.
Earlier this year, Mr Musk said the long-awaited Robotaxis would be unveiled on August 8.
Last week, he confirmed reports that the event would be delayed.
Mr Musk did not give a new date but said he had requested a change to the front of the vehicle.
“The extra time allows some other things to show,” he wrote.
This comes after Bloomberg News reported that the event had been pushed back to October.
Mr Musk’s businesses are increasingly focused on technologies such as artificial intelligence, autonomous driving and robots, at a time when demand for electric vehicles is waning.
