SEBRING - Sun 'n Lake Golf Club is known for having one of the most demanding courses in the area and the teams from there took advantage of their local knowledge to finish first and second in Monday's Heartland Women's Interclub event.
The Sun 'n Lake Deer Run squad finished first with a score of +17 points to win $255, while the Turtle Run team placed second at +3 to earn $153 and Spring Lake Golf resort claimed third place and collected a total of $102.
The monthly events are based on a points quota system and the competition continues through November.
In the individual results, Nan Reno finished first in the A Flight with a score of +8 points to win $26, Judy O'Hora came in second place with +6 to earn $19.50, Kay Maher and Dee Paul tied for third place at +3 and collected $9.75.
April Norcross took first place in the B Flight with a score of +4 and won $26, Cathy Daulby and Sandy Parker tied for second at +3 and made $16.25 and Terrie Austin was +2 and earned $6.50.
In the C Flight, Ginne Kramer was first with +6, Judy Dunn came in second at +5, Carol Grimm was third with +3, and Debbie Delaney and Eleanor O'Neal tied at +1.
Patty Miller finished first in the D Flight with a score of +8, Lisa Lovett placed second at +3, Carol Troup came in third with +1, and Jeanette Dion, Carolyn Drake and Bev Ruud tied at even.
In the pro game, River Greens pro Jason Beatty was medalist with a 69, Beatty teamed up with Rene Brown to shoot a 66, while Cody Brownell and Mike Sayre were second with a 68.
In the skins game, Golf Hammock Golf Club's Pete DuPriest won on No. 11, Beatty had a pair of skins on No. 1 and No. 3, Brownell on No. 17, Ryan Chandler on No. 5, Mike Lamere on No. 9 and Jason Laman on No. 6.
The closest-to-the-pin winners were Nan Reno in the A Flight on No. 12, Sandy Parker on No. 15 in the B Flight, Carol Grimm on No. 6 in the C Flight and Jan Wicker on No. 2 in the D Flight.
Long drive winners were Nela Hodge on No. 6 in the A Flight, April Norcross on No. 7 in the B Flight, Mary Beth Carby on No. 3 in the C Flight and Jan Wicker on No. 3 in the D Flight.
In the rest of the team scores, River Greens Golf Club was fourth at -3, The Bluffs were -6, Highlands Ridge South and Highlands Ridge North tied at -7, Golf Hammock Golf Club was -8 and Sebring Golf Club was at -12.
The next Heartland Women's Interclub event is set for Oct. 7 at Harder Hall Country Club.
The season ends in December with the first half winners taking on the second half winners for the overall championship.
