Pro qualifier up for grabs

SEBRING - The 130 players who braved Wednesday's cold, windy conditions in the second round of the NEC Series PGA Tour Latinoamerica Qualifying Tournament, found the Deer Run course at Sun 'n Lake Golf Club quite formidable.

With 21 players not able to finish the second round because of darkness, the leader in the clubhouse was Stephen Jaeger at 5-under.

Jaeger had rounds of 69-70 for a two-day total of 139, while Peter Campbell is at 4-under 140.

Michael Schachner carded rounds of 69-72 and is tied at 141 with Charlie Ford who shot 71-70.

Will Coleman, who fired a first-round 69, was 6-under through 15 holes, while first round co-leader Jacob Burger was 5-under through 15 holes.

The other first round co-leader was Cody Paladino, who was 3-under through 15 holes in Wednesday's difficult conditions.

Bryan Bigley, Cody Gribble and Ben Klaus are tied at 142, while David Chung and Jared Steger are at 143.

Bradley Hopfinger, Max Scodro, Kevin O'Connell and Paul Apyan are tied at even par 144.

The tournament continues through Friday and the competitors are battling for NEC Series PGA Tour Latinoamerica cards for the 2014 season.

The top 20 players will earn full exempt status, while the next 25 players earn conditional status.

Today's tee times begin at 7:40 a.m. and spectators are invited to come out and watch exciting golf action at no charge.
