Offenses erupt in senior softball

KFC continued its winning ways in the Highland County 70s senior sofbtall league by upending

Highland Ridge by a score of 17-11.

Bob Fox led the way with five hits, Ed Lindberg, Ron Lewis and Norm Grubb added three hits each with Grubb belting a home run.

Don Larivere contributed a long double and Rudy Pribble was the winning pitcher.

Highland Ridge was paced by Bob Roth's three hits and Doug Hammond and Charlie Quinn smacked a pair of hits each.

The Royal Palms team got into the winners bracket by edging Silent Salesmen, 15-13.

Dick Ostrich led Royal Palms with four hits and was the winning pitcher.

Jim Hensley and Victor Rodriquez had three hits apiece and Gallo Gonzalez was the winning hurler.

Silent Salesmen had Don Day with four hits, Dale Demar, Harry Bell, Don Sheets and Kyle Saunders banged out three hits each.

The VFW 4300 White Sox won 25-3 over Buttonwood Bay with the biggest outburst of runs this season.

Curt Brown, Dale Baughman, Don Cunningham and winning pitcher John Kloet had three hits apiece and Harley Smith was perfect at the plate with 3 walks and a hit.

Buttonwood Bay's Fred Richardson smacked three hits and Jim Noviss added a long home run for the losers.

The makeup doubleheaders had KFC over Royal Palms by a score of 7-4

KFC was led by Ross McMinn, Ron Lewis, Jose Torres and Norm Grubb who all had three hits each.

Royal Palms only had a double by Jim Hensley and five singles.

In the second game, Royal Palms upset KFC and handed them their first loss by a score of 17-11.

The hitting stars for Royal Palms were Cal Bready, Victor Rodriquez and Don Caroster with three hits each, while Earl Evans added a double.

KFC's Ed Lindberg, Norm Grubb, Jose Torres and Bob Fox had three hits apiece, while Jack Definney added two hits .

Highland Ridge upended Buttonwood Bay in both games of a doubleheader.

In the first game, Highlands Ridge won 11-4, as Bob Roth had four hits, Don Goodman, Mel Gross and Dennis Burkholtz belted three hits apiece.

The second game was a 10-8 win for Highlands Ridge as Charlie Quinn, Mel Gross, Don Goodman and Ross Anderson had three hits each and Doran Quigg had a triple.

The losing Buttonwood Bay team had Jim Noviss with five hits, including a double and triple, and a triple by John Degnen, while Rick Vancurren and Bob Wood contributed doubles.

The VFW 4300 won both games of a doubleheader beating Silent Salesmen in the first game 15-4.

Curt Brown, Dale Baughman, Don Cunningham and Gary Tankersley had three hits with Kloet earning the win on the mound.

The second game was a different story as the Silent Salesmen led most of the game only to lose in extra innings 12-11.

VFW 4300 had Curt Brown, Don Cunningham and Gene Phillips with three hits each and Fred Moore drove in the winning runs.

VFW 4300 and KFC are tied for first after the first three weeks of play.
