Volunteer Ridge Rangers recently prepared habitat at Highlands Hammock State Park for rare Florida scrub jays and two scrub jays at the Avon Park Bombing Range.

Volunteers are being sought to survey the birds during a three-day count June 25-27. A training session is being held to train Jay Watch Citizen Scientists for the monitoring.

The training is at 8 a.m. June 5 at Flamingo Villas, which is in Sebring.

For directions to Flamingo Villas, more information and to sign up, contact Audobon Florida Jay Watch Coordinator, Marianne Korosy, at 727-742-1683, or email her at mkorasy@audobon.org.
