Tractor plows Got Milk

Published:

— Sebring’s Tractor Service rolled past Got Milk by a score of 16-0 in Tuesday night’s Dixie Boys (ages 13-14) game at Max Long Complex.

“I can’t complain,” said Tractor Service Coach Cesar Martinez. “I was hoping for that no-hitter but it kind of got broken up there in the end. We hit the baseball and made the routine plays. That’s what it boils down to; throwing strikes, making routine plays, taking the opportunities when you get them, and scoring runs. That’s what it boils down to and that’s what we did.”

Sebring Tractor Service came out swinging in the top of the first inning as Hunter Martinez lashed a double, Logan Gregis was hit by a pitch and Dayvon Terry followed with a double to left field to plate Martinez.

Damion Lusby was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Eli Fautheree ripped a two-run single to center field. Carson Angell singled to load the bases.

Mason Huertas walked bringing home Lusby, and Jacob Regino worked a base-on-balls to score Fautheree.

Clayton Osha hit a sacrifice RBI to plate Angell for a 6-0 lead.

Tractor Service went back to work in the second inning as Martinez singled, stole second base and raced home on a double down the left-field line by Terry.

Lusby reached on a fielder’s choice, stole second and scampered home on an RBI single by Fautheree for a commanding 8-0 lead.

Got Milk put the ball in play in the bottom of the frame but couldn’t score as Jaylen Wheelock and Hunter Jolly hit ground balls to third base and Phillip Hamilton popped out to third base.

“There is a lot of talent on this team,” said Got Milk Coach Sean Szoka. “It’s just putting it all together. They’re a bunch of good kids, they have more heart than anybody.”

Tractor Service put the game out of reach in the top of the fourth inning.

J.D. Spiegel was on first when Martinez hammered an RBI double to center field, Gregis ripped an RBI triple to left-center field and Terry followed with a run-scoring double.

Lusby walked, Fautheree singled to load the bases and Angell singled to left field to drive in a run.

Huertas walked forcing in Lusby and Jacob Regino was struck with the ball to force in another run.

Dalton Sebring hit an RBI single and Osha plated a run.

Spiegel capped the inning with a looper to right field scoring Regino to make it 17-0.

Got Milk had one last chance to get on the board in the bottom of the frame as J.C. Crenshaw walked, stole second and advanced to third on an error.

Gavin Szoka singled and Hunter Jolly stepped to the plate. Jolly hit a shallow looper to center field for a single. Crenshaw attempted to score from third to put his team on the scoreboard but was unsuccessful as he was tagged out at home.

“In a game like this we wanted to give our younger players a chance to pitch a little bit,” said coach Martinez. “I wanted to make sure we stayed sharp hitting the baseball which we did.”
