St. Johns River State College student-athlete Katelynn Stoll has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her softball career at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn., where she will major in athletic training. A graduate of Avon Park High School, Stoll hit .290 for the Vikings this season with six doubles, 19 RBIs and a stolen base.
She started 51 games as a Viking and was selected for the 2013 Mid-Florida Conference All-Conference honorable mention team as well as the 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association All-Academic team.
Stoll had a solid career at Avon Park, where she was a standout on the diamond and also one of the Red Devils’ leading golfers. She made the All-Highlands softball team three times and was selected to the All-Highlands girls golf team three times, as well.
Her best season on the diamond was her senior year, when she hit an amazing .596 with eight doubles and five triples.
Stoll said she will miss playing at SJR State, especially the memories, coaches and players.
“I loved everything about it,” she said. “I want to thank coaches Katie (Brosky), Kaley (Broskey) and Rae (Wilkinson) for everything. I’m excited to play on for two more years at Cumberland University.”
Cumberland has a strong softball and went 36-20 during the regular season. The Bulldogs finished second in the Mid-South Conference, but will lose eight seniors to graduation this season.
