Junior Summer Tennis Camp

SEBRING - The Junior Summer Tennis Camp weekly tennis camps will run through Aug. 2. The camps are for players ages 6 to 18 and all skill levels are welcome. Camps run between 9 a.m. and noon Monday through Friday and are taught by USPTA Certified Pro Horace Watkis at the Thakkar Tennis Center in the Country Club of Sebring. The cost is $100 per weekly session. Contact Watkis at 414-2164 for more information or to register.

Firecracker 5K set for July 4

SEBRING - The 19th annual Firecracker 5K has been set for Thursday, July 4, at Highlands Hammock State Park with a 7:30 a.m. start time. This year's celebration of our nation's birthday will be limited to the first 300 paid entrants. For the first time, there will be no day of race registration so area runners are urged to enter early. Those desiring an entry form may contact race director Chet Brojek at cbrojek@comcast.net or by calling the coach at 385-4736. Entry fee is $20 thru June 30 and $30 thru July 3. The race features dri-fit tee shirts, custom plaques for overall, master and grand master champions, trophies for first in age divisions, and medals to second and third in 16 male and female age groups, chip timing, and plenty of post-race refreshments. The proceeds of the race benefit the boys' and girls' cross country teams at Avon Park High School.

Elk's monthly golf tournament

SEBRING - The Sebring Elks Lodge No. 1529 monthly golf outing will be held at Golf Hammock Golf and Country Club today beginning at 8 a.m. on July 1. Highlands County NAACP Golf Tournament

SEBRING - The Highlands County NAACP will be holding its first annual golf tournament on Saturday, July 20, at Golf Hammock County Club. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and a shotgun start will take place at 8 a.m. Cost for the four-person scramble is $60 per player and includes lunch, prizes and contests. Sebring High School water aerobics

SEBRING - Sebring High School is offering water aerobics on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class runs between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. The cost is $2 per class or $1 with a summer pool pass. Call 471-5500 ext. 229 or e-mail catonp@highlands.k12.fl.us for more information.

14th Annual Memorial Golf Classic

SEBRING - The Sebring Firemen, Inc. will be hosting their 14th annual Memorial Golf Classic Saturday, Aug. 10. It will be held at Sun N'Lake Golf & Country Club on both courses. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with a cannon start at 8:30 a.m. The four-person scramble costs $75 per entry and includes golf cart, one mulligan, range balls, and prizes. Food and beverages will be available at the course. The deadline for registration is Aug. 8. For more information, call Tommy Lovett at 863-385-5100.

Lake Placid Softball Car Wash

Lake Placid - The Lake Placid Softball Dixie Belles will hold a car wash on June 29 at Advanced Auto Parts on 799 U.S. 27 South. The car wash starts at 9 a.m. and runs until noon. The team will be taking donations to help fund their trip to the Florida State Dixie Softball Tournament, which will be held in Brooksville from July 4-9.

Lake Placid Dixie Belles "Give Back Night" LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Dixie Belles softball team is hosting a "Give Back Night" at the Beef 'O' Brady's on July 1 from 5-9 p.m and again on July 2 at Chili's, from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Both restaurants will donate a portion of their sales to the Belles as long as patrons present a flyer during their meal.
