Sebring set for state T-Ball

— The Sebring T-Ball All-Stars began their quest for a Dixie Youth T-Ball State Championship Friday night in Mulberry at Mulberry Park.

Participating in opening ceremonies, the all-stars competed in a skills competition between participants with all of the 12 teams represented.

Jamarcus Gomez and Chase Vaughn showed off their speed in the running competition, finishing first and second, respectively. Chase Casey showed off his sweet swing and big-time power, capturing the Home Run Derby.

Sebring began pool play on Saturday, playing Mulberry in the early game before capping the evening with East Lakeland.

The boys in blue face Wesley Chapel and Bartow today in pool play, and fans can follow the games live by going to www.jockjive.com.

The double-elimination championship round will begin on Tuesday and finish Wednesday. The round will feature the top two teams from each pool.

Sebring advanced to the state tournament by sweeping Okeechobee three weeks ago at the District 8 Tournament.

The Sebring All-Stars are led by coach Brian Simmons, and the team has worked hard to prepare for the tournament.

The boys in blue are comprised of Aiden Bryant, Liam Bryant, Chase Casey, Jacob Knott, Jacob Taylor, Chase Vaughn, Jamarcus Gomez, Tanner Simmons, Hunter Stone, Camden Culverhouse, Cole Travers, and Jordan Vincent.

Weekend tournament passes can be purchased for $20 day passes, which range from $7-6, can also be purchased. Children 6 and under get in free.
