Rotary tourney a success

— Ninety-six golfers stormed the Turtle Run course at Sun ‘n Lake Golf Club for the 25th annual Sebring Sunrise Rotary Golf Tournament last Saturday.

The four-person scramble was divided into three flights, with the quartet of Greg Griffin, Dave Ford, Dave Bell, and Ryan Chandler utilized two pars to win the championship flight with a sizzling score of 53.

Matt Hall, Curtis Donovan, Warren Hall, and Steve Piccione finished second, carding a 55.

Billy Scruggs, Mike London, Chris Hadden, and Garvin Elkhill finished third, shooting a 57.

In the first flight, Gary Heintz, Dave Cox, Curtis Weldy, and Bill Murphy combined their talents cruise into first place with a 60.

Mike Andrews, Alex Fells, JC Shoop, and Cory Watt followed in second with a 62.

On the basis of matching cards, Chip Boring, Robert Sanders, Steve Bexley, and Sean Stephens placed third, shooting a 63.

Tight scores continued to dominate the second flight.

Finishing first with a 62 was Derek Melvin, Gibran Feniello, Anthony Gaines, and Lenny Elliott.

Jim Lobozzo, Tony Lobozzo, Danny Lobozzo, and Scott Leconey were second on the basis of matching cards, shooting a 64.

Carding a 64, also on the basis of matching cards and finishing third, was Mark Sevigny, Eric Sevigny, Chad Sevigny, and Andrew Deierlein.

Longest drives belonged to Chandler on hole No. 1 and Garrett Anderson on hole No. 9.

Elliott (4-feet, 6-inches), Donovan (3-feet, 8-inches), Tom Wagner (1-foot, 6-inches), and Mark Hopkins (9-feet, 2-inches) were winners in the closest-to-the-pin contests.
