HGMS Basketball Camp

— Hill-Gustat Middle School will host a basketball camp runs through Friday. Cost is $65 per student. Camps for students finishing grades 2nd-5th will run from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Camps for students finishing grades 6th-9th will go from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Lunch will be provided along with a free T-shirt. All proceeds benefit the HGMS athletic department. Registrations forms can be picked from the school. For more information, contact Nick Brooks at brooksn@highlands.k12.fl.us.

SFSC softball camp

— South Florida State College will hold its last summer softball camp today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $45 per camper. Panthers softball coach Carlos Falla will serve as camp director, and campers will be instructed by assistant Heather Barnes and Panthers players. APHS football camp

— Avon Park High School will hold a football camp from June 16-20. Cost is $30 per camper and fee includes snack, lunch, and Red Devils football T-shirt. On the final day of camp, there will be a Punt, Pass, and Kick compeition, followed by a pool party and awards ceremony. All campers will be registered in a contest to win Tampa Bay Rays tickets. SFSC volleyball camp

— South Florida State College will hold summer volleyball camps throughout June and July. Camp is open to all ages and will be split into three sessions. The first session runs through Thursday, and the second runs from June 23-26. The third session is July 7-10. Camp runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $100 per week or $30 per daily session. Summer golf clinics

Debby McNall will be giving golf lessons this summer. Junior Clinics cost $10 and will held at 9 a.m. on Fridays. The Ladies “hit and giggle” will be on Wednesday evenings and cost $20. Private and group lessons are available as well. For more information, contact McNall at 257-1108.

Summer Sunrise 5k Series

— The inaugural Summer Sunrise 5k Series will be held on June 28, July 12, and Aug. 16 at Highlands Hammock State Park. Each race starts at 7 a.m., and trophies will be awarded to the fastest runners across five age divisions. The entry fee is $40 through June 5 and $50 on race morning. LPAA sports camp

— The Lake Placid Athletic Association will be holding a an athletic day camp that starts next Monday and runs through Aug. 2. Cost is $10 per day for each camper, but discounts are available. SFSC/SHS summer baseball camp

— South Florida State College and Sebring High School will hold a summer baseball camp from June 23-July 26 at Firemen’s Field. Camp is open to youngsters aged 5-13 and costs $80 for the week. Bowling Exhibition

— The Heartland Bowling Center will host the Showdown for the Tata’s Bowling Exhibition on June 22 at noon. The event will feature PBA Hall of Fame member Randy Pedersen vs. Heartland Bowl Hero Vernon Peterson. All proceeds will be donated to the Beverly J. Wright Memorial Fund. A free mystery doubles tournament with a $500 prize will be held as well. Contact Georgeann Singletary at 382-2643 for more information.

Summer Tennis Camp

— The Highlands County Tennis Association will hold a summer tennis camp is underway and runs through Aug. 2. Classes will be held Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. All levels of skill are welcomed to attend (ages 5-18). Cost is $100 per week. For more information, contact Michael Reed at 414-1966.

Wrestling fundraiser

The Highlands Eagles Wrestling Club is looking to take an elite group of young men to a national tournament at the Dixney Wide World of Sports Complex. The tournament will be from June 26 to July 1 and costs range from $2,500-3,000. The club is looking to do yard work or labor in return for a donation to the team. Sebring Pool open

— The Sebring High School swimming pool is now open to the public. Entry costs $2.50 per swimmer. The pool is open from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, and from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Hours will change once the school year is over.

Choices “Golf Fore Life”

­— Choices Pregnancy Care Centers will hold its 10th annual golf tournament at the Sebring Municipal Golf Course on June 21. The four-person scramble begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Cost is $60 per person and fee includes golf, one mulligan, one raffle ticket, cart, lunch, and prizes. Teams that register before June 8 will be entered in a special drawing. Call 386-0307 for more information.
