Junior Tennis Fall Camp

SEBRING - Junior Tennis Fall Camp for kids aged 4-18 begins on Aug. 19 and runs through Oct. 18. All classes will be held at the Thakkar Tennis Center at The Country Club of Sebring. USPTA Certified Pro Horace Watkis will instruct all age levels. The cost for Tiny Tots (4-6) is $75 and classes will be held on Tuesdays from 3:15-4 p.m. The cost for Future Champs (6-12) is $90 and classes will be held Monday-Friday from 4-5 p.m. The cost for Pre-Tournament Academy (12-18) is $120 and will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5-6:30 p.m. To register, call Watkis at 863-414-2164 or 863-386-4282.

VFW Post 4300 golf tournament

SEBRING - The VFW Post 4300 will hold a golf tournament at 8 a.m. Saturday at Sebring Municipal Golf Club. Check in is at 7:15 a.m. and there will be a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The cost is $50 per player for the four-person scramble tournament. Contact Paul Morris at 446-2064 or VFW Post 4300 at 385-8902.

Sertoma/bank golf tournament

SEBRING - The 36th annual Highlands Independent Bank/Sertoma Golf Tournament will take place Aug. 24 and 25 at Sun 'n Lake Golf Club. Both courses will be used. The tournament will continue its tradition of using a two-person best ball format on Saturday and a two-person scramble on Sunday. Cost is $155 per player or $205 for those who want to bring a guest to the Saturday Luau. Registration forms will be available at pro shops or can be mailed or faxed by calling Dusty Johnson at 381-8041. Sponsorships are also available by contacting Johnson.

Coz's Youth Bowling League

LAKE PLACID - Coz's Sports Bar and Bowl will be starting its youth bowling league on Aug. 24 at 9 a.m.. The season runs through Dec. 21. The sign-up fee is $25 and includes a shirt. New bowlers and Pee Wees (ages 3-6) are welcome to apply. All youth league bowlers are eligible for reduced rate open bowling (some restrictions apply) and free bowling with instruction on Fridays from 4:30-6 p.m. For more information call Frank Peterson at 863-382-9541 or Donna Stanley at 863-441-4897.

Avon Park Champions Club Golf

SEBRING - The inaugural Avon Park Champions Club golf tournament will be held at Golf Hammock Country Club on Sept. 14 at 8 a.m. Cost is $60 per person and limited to the first 100 paid entrants. Fee includes golf, cart, course refreshments, winner's plaques, contests, a mulligan, and a chicken and ribs dinner at the clubhouse. A corporate fee of $275 per team will enter four golfers and a tee sign for your business. Tee sponsorship is also available for $50.

Make checks payable to Avon Park Champions Club and mail them to Champions Club, 24 S. Verona Ave., Avon Park, FL 33825. The deadline is Sept. 11. Please include names and handicaps of players as well as a corporate sponsor logo for the tee if applicable. Create A Shining Star Golf Tournament

SEBRING - The 2nd Annual Create A Shining Star Shotgun Golf Tournament will be held at Sun 'n Lake Golf Club on Sept. 7 at 8 a.m. Registration will be held day of and cost is $55 per person or $220 per team. Cost includes golf cart, range balls, luncheon, door prizes, and course refreshments. Mulligans, hole-in-one prizes, and $35 hole sponsorships are also available. Sebring Sunrise Rotary 5k

SEBRING - The Sebring Sunrise Rotary will hold its first annual Red/White/Blue 5k Run, Walk, or Stride on Sept. 7 at Highlands Hammock State Park. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. day of and the race will start at 8. Cost is $25 per person or $80 for a family four pack or $100 for a team of five. Virtual entry is available as well, for $22.50. Entry fee includes a shirt and a medallion. Make checks payable to the Sebring Sunrise Rotary Foundation or pay via credit card online at www.sebringsunriserotary.com. All proceeds will benefit the Honor Flights Program.

Webber Football Golf Classic

BABSON PARK - Webber International University will hold its annual Webber Football Golf Classic on Aug. 24 with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. at Oakwood Country Club in Lake Wales. The tournament will be a four person scramble and the entry fee is $60 per player. Mulligans and 50/50 tickets can be purchased at registration. Hole sponsorships are also available for $100. All proceeds will go to support the Warriors football team. The top three teams will be awarded prizes and there will be a closest to the pin and long drive contest. Lunch will be held immediately following the tournament on Webber International's campus where golfers can relax and watch the Warriors' green and gold game.
