SEBRING — Mike Welborn has spent much of his life helping out others; whether as a member of the West Sebring Volunteer Fire Department or as a Dixie Youth Baseball coach. Having been recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma — a form of cancer that affects plasma cells — Welborn could use a bit of help and there were plenty of friends and supporters who turned up at Golf Hammock on Saturday for the Mike Welborn Charity Scramble.
Golfers were treated to nice weather and great playing conditions, while knowing they were helping out a worthy cause.
There were plenty of solid scores on the day and the winning team of Bill Davis, Pete Dupriest, Ryan Chandler and Easton Davis combined to shoot a solid 20-under-par score of 52.
Amberlee Rogers’ team took second place with a score of 56, winning on a match of cards over the team of Jason Laman, Mike Sayre, Rene Brown and Ryan Magnuson. Andrew Guasch and his team combined to take fourth place with a score of 59.
All 17 teams entered in the event finished under par.
Anyone wishing to donate to Welborn can make checks available to Mike Welborn and send them to 708 Porsche Ave., Sebring, FL 33872 or do so at Highlands Independent Bank.
