The annual Sebring area community Good Friday service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, 126 S. Pine St.
The service, “Conversations Around the Cross” will include brief meditations by local clergy on Pilate, the chief priests, the Roman centurion, the two thieves, Jesus, Joseph and Nicodemus. Between each segment will be Scripture readings, hymns and special music.
The Rev. A.C. Bryant, host pastor, will preside. Meditations will be provided by the Rev. David Smalley of Church of the Brethren, Chaplain Willie Mincey of Cornerstone Hospice, the Rev. Max Severe of St. Catherine Catholic Church, the Rev. Darrell Peer of First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Ronal DeGenaro, Jr. of St. John United Methodist, and the Rev. Cecil Hess of The Palms of Sebring and the Church of Buttonwood Bay.
Scripture readers will be Majors Bruce and Vicki Stefanik of the Salvation Army, Chaplains Cecil Kent and David Springer of Good Shepherd Hospice, the Rev. George Miller of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, and Bishop Steve Austin of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Music will be provided by the host choir, George and Carol Kline, the Friends Barbershop Quartet and Jill Jernigan.
The event is sponsored by the Sebring Ministerial Association. A freewill offering will be received to benefit the clergy fund for needy Sebring residents.
