AVON PARK An Avon Park woman who told authorities she was raped has been charged with child neglect, according to a report released Tuesday.

An arrest warrant affidavit said the woman told Highland County Sheriff’s Office investigators that at the time she was raped her 2-year-old boy was in the care of a baby sitter. However, she later told deputies that after she was raped, she went out and was drinking, leaving her boy at home unattended.

No charges have been filed in connection with the rape allegations as of Tuesday, said Nell Hays, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office.
