The Florida Forest Service and B&B Sebring Fairmont Square Cinema 6 announced their wildfire prevention contest winners from their fire prevention event July 19.

There were four winners in concurrence with the Disney’s “Planes: Fire & Rescue” movie.

Samantha Eldridge, cinema manager, awarded the three coloring contest winners by age categories with movie theatre tickets and a Smokey Bear wildfire educational prize pack.

Winners were: Jakob Jackson, 7; Maddie (last name not available), 5; and Ian Harris, 10.

In addition to the coloring contest, there was a kids raffle to receive a Disney “Planes” action toy, water bottle and cloth bag donated by Walt Disney World.

Ten-year-old Kaitlyn Murphy was elated to receive a prize and share it with her little brother who was sick and missed the event.

Future Smokey Bear sightings are scheduled for 9 a.m. Aug. 5 at the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners, which will award Smokey Bear a 70th birthday proclamation; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at Florida Forest Service’s Smokey Bear 70th birthday party at the Florida Forest Service Sebring Forestry Station, 8036 C.R. 17 S.
