SEBRING - Jury selection in the trial of a man accused of leaving his 2-year-old daughter overnight in a car is scheduled to begin Oct. 9.

The trial date for Christopher King was set during a pretrial conference earlier this week.

King was arrested last year after his daughter, Amelia King, died in the car from heat stroke.

He initially told authorities his son accidentally locked her in the car, but authorities said that evidence showed that not to be the case.

The son told authorities that King left the daughter in the vehicle when he arrived home with her, forgot about her and didn't remember until the son woke him up, a report said.

King was charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child and child neglect with great harm.
