SEBRING — Four people were taken to various hospitals after a three-vehicle accident Tuesday around 6:30 p.m. on U.S. 27 near Flare Road, according to a Sebring Police Department report.
The accident started when a semi-truck hit a SUV, causing the SUV to crash against another car, the report said.
From the car hit by the semi, Cynthia Jo Behrens, 1035 W. Viriginia, Sebring, was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, the report said. Robert W. Behrens, of the same address, was taken to Tampa General Hospital, the report said. He is reported to be in serious condition.
From the third vehicle, Nancy Whalen, 8716 Monserrat Road, Sebring, and Shannon Whalen, no address given, were taken to Highlands Regional Medical Center.
The three are reported to be in stable condition.
The driver of the semi, Rodney A. Hawthorne, 443 Maclyn Circle, Lake Placid, who was not injured, was cited and charged with careless driving, the report said.
