Suspects arrested in burglaries

AVON PARK - Two suspects have been arrested in connection with six burglaries that occurred in May in the Leisure Lakes area, according to the Highlands County Sheriff's Office.

Samuel Kemar Ramos, 19, and Devin Victor Soto, 20, both of 3134 Oleander Drive, Lake Placid, were arrested in connection with burglaries that occurred between May 18 and May 23, the sheriff's office said Thursday.

They both have been charged with six counts of burglary of a dwelling, three counts of grand theft, two counts of grand theft of a firearm, two counts of criminal mischief and one count of petit theft.

Soto is being held in the Highlands County jail on a bond of $209,750 and Ramos is being held without bond because he also is facing a violation of probation charge, the Highlands County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

Highlands County Sheriff Susan Benton praised the law enforcement officers involved in the case for their perseverance and team work.
