Support group helps families of sexual abuse children

SEBRING -

An Avon Park resident has started a support group for families of sexually abused children.

Kim Greco said there are many resources available for children who become victims to sexual abuse but no support groups for their families.

Families Of Sexually Abused Children, or FOSAC, will meet weekly in a discreet Sebring location and participants’ identities will be kept confidential, she said.

Her hope is to get together families of victims in a group setting so they can share research on the subject and help each other “cope and heal” and “be productive in the teaching of the same to our children.”

Childcare will be provided during the meetings if absolutely necessary, she said.

Greco, who started the group about three days ago, has been putting up flyers everywhere and said she has received a positive feedback from many people.

Those who are interested in being part of the group and need details can contact Greco at F.0.S.A.C.group@gmail.com

To reach Greco, call 368-0140. Greco has also set up a Facebook page: Families Of Sexually Abused Children (F.O.S.A.C.).
