SO: Shoplifting suspect stole from two Walmarts two consecutive days

Published:

—A 51-year-old man accused of shoplifting at the Sebring Walmart May 18 ended up being charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property and fraud for a separate shoplifting incident at the Avon Park Walmart the day before and for redeeming some of the stolen items for gift cards at the Sebring store, authorities said.

A loss prevention specialist who had reportedly observed Dale Allen Williams, 1443 S. Georgia Ave., Sebring, at the Sebring Walmart also identified him on surveillance video in connection with the Avon Park store theft complaint, a Highlands County Sheriff’s Office report states.

A witness told authorities Williams returned three items to the store and got $88.64 on three gift cards because he needed beer money, the report adds.

Authorities accuse him of stealing $452.46 worth of items from the Avon Park Walmart.

The witness, who was reportedly with Williams during the Avon Park incident and when he returned the items in Sebring, retrieved some of the stolen property from her home and led authorities to another place where the rest of the items were reportedly being kept, the report states.

The report does not state what happened to the witness. Williams was in Highlands County Jail when he was charged in connection with the Avon Park Walmart incident. He denied it happened, the report adds.
