Shoe tread leads to burglary arrest

SEBRING -

A Sebring burglary suspect may have fared better if he had not been wearing shoes, according to an arrest report released Monday.

Michael Timothy Hennes Jr., 37, no address given, was arrested May 5 by the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure.

The arrest came after a deputy investigated a break-in at McPhail’s Auto Sales, 3003 U.S. 27 North, and saw a shoe impression where the break-in occurred, the report said.

The tread on Hennes’ shoes matched that impression, the report said.

Hennes remained in jail on $5,000 bond as of press time.
