Sheriff’s office working on gas station robbery, call about a body in a pasture

—Highlands County Sheriff’s Office was working Wednesday night on a gas station robbery in Avon Park and a call about a body found in a pasture in Sebring.

At about 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, dispatchers received a call that a body had been found at 1226 Farm Road in Sebring, a sheriff’s office news release states.

Authorities have identified the person but are not releasing the name pending notification of next of kin. The cause of death is also under investigation. Anyone with information should call the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Unit and detective Bob Neale at 863-402-7250.

At about 10 p.m., authorities responded to a robbery call at the Shell gas station at 998 U.S. 27 N. in Avon Park, the news release states.

One person has been arrested but the case remains under investigation, the news release adds. Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigations Unit at 863-402-7250.
