Visitors to the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo may learn more about seaplane flying at a temporary seaplane base hosted by the Seaplane Pilots Association at the Sunset Grille, located on Lake Jackson at 2650 U.S. 27 South, in Sebring.
The base will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Seaplane rides will also be available.
The SPA will also exhibit on the expo grounds through today, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Anyone interested in learning about seaplane flying may visit either area to visit with active seaplane pilots.
A free shuttle bus will transport visitors from the expo to the seaplane base hourly through Sunday.
Bill Schmalz, Florida SPA field director, said the base will be located at the southeast corner of the lake, at N27-28.400/W081-27.000, six nautical miles northwest of the Sebring Airport (KSEF).
Incoming seaplane pilots should use Unicom 123.40, with a left-hand traffic pattern. The Sebring airport frequency is 122.70.
Seaplane pilots from throughout the southeast are invited to visit the seaplane base during the expo.
