The Lake Placid Noon Rotary Club presented a $1,000 scholarship to Alexia Salazar, a 2012 Lake Placid High School graduate.
Salazar graduated 10th in her class with a GPA of 4.88. She was a member of the National Honor Society, on the honor roll since the sixth grade, member of the Interact, student government and Key clubs. She played soccer for Lake Placid High School and was voted Defensive Player of the Year for the junior varsity team.
Salazar worked as a cashier at Winn Dixie and was the business manager for the school yearbook. She likes to play soccer, study and read. Salazar is currently attending the University of South Florida in Tampa, where she just finished her first semester.
Due to dual enrollment classes that she took at Lake Placid High School, she is able to apply for the nursing program at USF. She is seeking a registered nurse's degree specializing in pediatrics. She also is going to minor in photography and horticulture.
