Robbers robbed, shot 38-year-old Sylvan Shores resident, authorities say

LAKE PLACID- Authorities have released the name of Sunday night's Sylvan Shores shooting victim as 38-year-old Robert Allen Pauley.

At about 9:25 p.m. Highlands County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to Florida Hospital Lake Placid where Pauley was being treated for a gunshot wound, according to a news release.

Pauley reportedly told authorities he and a friend had returned to his home, 1520 Oak Avenue, in Lake Placid, after some shopping.

His friend went into the house with the purchased items and Pauley was approached by at least two male suspects demanding money, the news release adds. The suspects robbed Pauley of cash money, then shot him as they ran away, the news release adds.

Pauley made his way toward the house and screamed for his friend, who then took him to the hospital.

He was transferred to another medical facility for further treatment of his injuries. He is currently in stable condition, the news release states.

Detectives are seeking information on the suspects.
