SEBRING — The Florida Department of Transportation is alerting motorists of the following road work in Highlands County for this week:
Kenilworth Boulevard from Weigle Avenue to Denise Avenue: There are no scheduled lane closures as crews complete miscellaneous items and clean up the project. Work on this project includes adding sidewalk with wheelchair accessible ramps along the north side of Kenilworth Boulevard, relocating utilities and reconstructing some driveway entrances as part of the Safe Routes to Schools program. Expected completion is end of May.
U.S. 27 from Highlands Avenue to Sebring Parkway: Maintenance crews will be shaping the ditches and shoulders from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., today through Thursday. No lane closures are scheduled, but use caution and watch for trucks and equipment entering and leaving the highway.
U.S. 27 from Bramblewood Road to Martin Road: Expect intermittent northbound lane closures during the day while utility crews replace poles along the east side of U.S. 27 through early June. Work will begin at Bramblewood Road and proceed north. Motorists should use caution and watch for changes in the traffic pattern.
S.R. 66 west of C.R. 635: Crews will be repairing the shoulders along the eastbound lanes. While not scheduled, lane closures may occur. Motorists should use caution and watch for changes in the traffic pattern.
S.R. 17 (Ridgewood Drive) from Sebring Parkway to Glenwood Avenue: Crews will reduce Ridgewood Drive to one lane with flaggers directing traffic and/or use the turn lanes at Sebring Parkway to shift northbound traffic while they remove and replace the existing curb. Expect lane closures and traffic shifts from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m.
