Public invited to police dog field trial competition

SEBRING -

The public is invited to attend the United States Police Canine Association Region I Field Trials and Certifications beginning Monday at various venues.

There will also be a “Public Display” that will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sebring High School Football Field. The event will feature the best of the best dogs performing their maneuvers, according to a press release.

Masters of ceremonies for Thursday evening will be Highlands County Commissioner Don Elwell and Punta Gorda Police Captain Jim Nichols. All of the events are free.

Schedule for competitions

Monday: 8 a.m.–4 p.m.

Sports Complex, 100 Sheriff’s Tower Rd., obedience/agility

Sebring Airport, 128 Authority Lane, detector dogs test

Tuesday: 8 a.m–4 p.m.

Sebring International Raceway, 130 Midway Dr., Sebring, article searches

Sports Complex, box searches

More details will be released for Wednesday and Thursday events, according to a press release.
