LAKE PLACID - The driver of a commercial truck received minor injuries Monday morning when his vehicle overturned after striking two guardrails on State Road 70 near the Kissimmee River Bridge.

After the single-vehicle accident, SR 70 was temporarily closed in Highlands County at CR 721 and US 98 in Okeechobee while the overturned semi was removed from the roadway near Beam Cove.

Steven V. Hartley, 50, of Palmetto, received minor injuries, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

He was driving a GMC C7500 eastbound on SR 70 approaching the Kissimmee River Bridge when the right side of the vehicle struck the right guardrail, the report shows. The truck crossed the roadway and its left side struck the left guardrail.

The truck traveled into the north side canal, overturned and rotated counter-clockwise coming to rest facing west, the report states.

The report notes that Hartley was transported to Florida Hospital Lake Placid.
