Operation Medicine Cabinet to collect prescription meds

— On Saturday, the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and the Sebring and Lake Placid Police Departments will participate in Operation Medicine Cabinet.

Sponsored by Drug Free Highlands and the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Agency, the event provides lawful, safe disposal of expired, unwanted or unused prescription medications.

Collections will be taken at the Sebring Police Department, 307 N. Ridgewood Drive; Lake Placid Police Department, 8 N. Oak St.; Highlands County Sheriff’s Office substation at Liberty Star Plaza, 7177 S. George Blvd., Sebring; and the substation in Avon Park, 304 W. Pleasant St.

The event will run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All prescription medications are accepted; however, the locations listed above are the only locations accepting medications and only during the hours listed.
