Published:

AVON PARK - The Moscow Festival Ballet will present "The Sleeping Beauty" at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the SFSC Theatre for the Performing Arts.

This adaptation of the classic fairytale was choreographed by Marius Petipa, scored by Tchaikovsky and is considered one of the finest achievements of classical ballet.

The Moscow Festival Ballet was founded in 1989 when legendary principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet, Sergei Radchenko, sought to realize his vision of a company which would bring together the highest classical elements of the great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies in an independent new company within the framework of Russian classic ballet.

Since its inception, the Moscow Festival Ballet has completed two tours of Europe with receptions in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, including capacity audiences at London's famed Coliseum.

Tickets are $33, $36 and $39. They are available for purchase at www.performances.southflorida.edu or at the SFSC Box Office, 784-7178.
