Middle school academic teams face off

Published:
SEBRING -

Several Highlands County middle school students tested their knowledge of Florida history, Australian art, European mathematicians and other trivia in the annual academic team faceoff May 11 at Sebring High School.

Teams from Sebring Middle School, Hill-Gustat Middle School and Avon Park Middle School put their trivia hats on as parents cheered and high school team members helped Sebring High School teacher Brittany Klobuchar coordinate the event.

Sixth-, seventh- and eight-grade teams first individually competed against one another, followed by a varsity team from each of the three middle schools.

“I was very happy with the turnout,” Klobuchar said. “The worst thing that happened was having to bring out more chairs, but that is hardly bad. It just shows the growing support and interest for this event.”

Lake Placid Middle School did not participate.
