Man thwarts burglary

Published:

AVON PARK An Avon Park man apparently thwarted a burglary, according to an arrest report released Tuesday.

Larry Farrell Meyer, 56, 506 Red Pine Drive, Sebring, was arrested May 10 by the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and charged with criminal mischief, burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and burglary of an unoccupied conveyance.

The arrest came after deputies arrived at the scene and found one man holding another man, who turned out to be Meyer, on the ground, the report said.

William Coleman, who was holding Meyer on the ground, told deputies that he saw Meyer entering a residence “and grabbed him from behind and pulled him outside,” the report said.

Coleman told authorities he had never seen Meyer at the residence. The owners of the residence, who were not home when the incident began, told deputies they did not know Meyer. They said someone broke out a door window, the report said.

Coleman also told deputies that he found that someone had damaged his truck, the report said.
