Man suspected of having drugs nabbed after fleeing police

— Hiding in a hole wasn’t enough to allow a Sebring man to avoid being captured by Sebring police officers, according to a report released Monday.

Vincent Paul Fiore, 30, 443 Oak Ave., Sebring, was arrested by the Sebring Police Department Saturday and charged with resisting an officer without violence, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug equipment.

Earlier, police had stopped a vehicle going above the speed limit on U.S. 27, the report said. A police K-9 alerted officers to the presence of drugs in the vehicle where Fiore was a passenger, the report said.

Officers found 13 alprazolam pills and suspected that Fiore may have more drugs on him, the report said. But when police asked him to get out of the vehicle so they could search him, he fled from the scene, the report said.

They later found him hiding in a hole behind a nearby business, the report said.
