Man gets prison time for sexual activity with minor

LAKE PLACID - A Lake Placid man was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading no contest to charges that stemmed from sexual activity with a minor, according to a press release.

Winford C. Pointer of 128 Wilson Way N.E., Lake Placid, had been charged with four counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, two counts of using a computer to solicit a child and two counts of obscene communications/traveling to meet a minor.

Highlands County Sheriff Susan Benton voiced concerns in the press release that other victims of Pointer may not have come forward. She encouraged any such victims to come forward.
