Man dies from head injury

LAKE PLACID - Highlands County deputies are asking the public for information in connection with the murder of a migrant worker.

Nell Hays, public information officer for the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, said in a press release that the victim was found on March 28 with a head injury on a dirt trail behind Lupita Grocery on Palm Beach Street in Sun 'N Lake, Lake Placid.

The man was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he died on March 30, Hays said.

Deputies had responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call.

Hays said that the identity of the victim, who was from Mexico, wasn't being released because the next of kin hasn't been notified.
