SEBRING A man was arrested Wednesday after being accused of stealing items and then attempting to return them to a business for a refund, according to a report.

Christopher Wayne Dyer, 25, 2680 Lakeview Drive, Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and charged with two counts of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, third-degree grand theft and petit theft.

Dyer was arrested on a warrant stemming from a report of burglary in October 2012. A man reported that someone stole several items from him, the report said.

Authorities accuse Dyer of stealing the items and then attempting to return them for cash with a false signature on a receipt, the report said.

Dyer remained in the Highlands County jail on $27,000 bond, as of press time.
