SEBRING — A Highlands County man was not only accused Monday of stealing a vehicle, but also of driving it while his license was suspended, according to a report released Tuesday.

Eddie Ray Locklear, 25, 125 N.W. Lincoln Road, Lake Placid, was arrested by the Lake Placid Police Department and charged with driving while his license was suspended, second offense. He also was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and charged with grand theft of a vehicle.

The arrest came after a police officer saw the driver turning into a convenience store parking lot and also another vehicle following it, the report said.

The officer noticed that the first vehicle matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen out of Lorida, the report said. The officer also knew that Locklear does not have a valid driver’s license, the report added.

As it turned out the other driver, a cousin of Locklear, also did not have a valid driver’s license, the report said. He was issued a citation charging him also with driving while license suspended.
