Man accused of selling cocaine near housing

SEBRING Itís probably too late to try to get rid of cocaine when a law enforcement officer is already behind your car.

Quincy Levon Owens, 38, 100 State Drive, Sebring, was arrested April 5 by the Highlands County Sheriffís Office and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver within 1,000 feet of a playground and public housing, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence and violation of probation.

His arrest came after a deputy saw a bag of cocaine being thrown out of a vehicle in which Owens was the only occupant, the report said. The deputy was approaching the vehicle because its headlight was out, the report said.

The report alleged that Owens had cocaine within 1,000 feet of a playground behind the Highlands County School Board office.
