An Avon Park man was arrested after being accused of molesting an 11-year-old girl, according to a report released Thursday.

Willie Jerome Crumity, 57, of 1101 S. Carolina Ave., Avon Park, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and charged with lewd/lascivious behavior/molestation involving a child younger than 12.

The report said the girl took over laundry to Crumity’s residence to ask him to use his washer and dryer.

The victim told authorities that Crumity exposed himself to her and that Crumity pulled her clothes down.

At one point, Crumity asked if the intent of the complaint was to send him back to prison. It’s not clear from the report to whom he was asking that question.

Florida Department of Corrections records online show that Crumity has a long history of arrests relating to sale or purchase of cocaine.

He was arrested for offenses that occurred between 1988 and 2003. He was last released from prison on April 4, 2005, after being sentenced to two years in prison in 2003 for sale, manufacture or delivery of cocaine.
