Man accused of breaking into house

— A woman told authorities her landlord’s boyfriend broke into her house, damaged parts of it and pushed a couch toward her young child, according to a report released Tuesday.

Dewayne Barry Yancey, 45, 1815 Karen Blvd., Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and charged with burglary with assault or battery and petit theft.

The woman, who is pregnant, reported that Yancey entered the house and removed all the food from the refrigerator. Then he went into the living room and threw all the stuff on a shelf onto the floor, the woman told authorities.

Then, he pushed a couch toward her young child, the woman told deputies.

After the woman grabbed the kid and went into a bedroom, Yancey yanked an air conditioning thermostat off the wall, a report said.
