LPPD officer completes motorcycle crash course

Published:

— The Lake Placid Police Department’s Lt. Mark Schneider has recently completed an intensive 40-hour motorcycle crash investigations course at the Florida Public Safety Institute in Havana, Fla.

The course is designed for experienced traffic crash investigators, states a news release, and qualifies Schneider to become an expert in crash investigations.

During the course, Schneider and other students participated in practical exercises and staged crash situations to give them hands-on experience with skids, accelerations, decelerations and the unique characteristics of single-tracked vehicles.

The tuition for the course was provided through a grant, which included housing and meals.
