LAKE PLACID- The Lake Placid Police Department is seeking information into a robbery Saturday evening where the victim was shot, authorities said.

Lake Placid Police Chief James Fansler said they received a call around 8:50 p.m., in reference to a shooting that took place near the Lake Placid Depot Museum, located on Park Street near the railroad tracks.

The victim was approached by a black male, who was wearing pants, no shirt, and had his head and face covered, Fansler added.

The suspect asked the victim for money after brandishing a small firearm. The suspect then shot the victim after the money was handed over, Fansler said.

The victim was taken to Florida Hospital and treated for a non-life threatening wound.

Anyone who has information is requested to contact the Lake Placid Police Department at 863-699-3757. A reward is being offered for any information leading to an arrest. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-226-8477.
