LP police seeks tips on Saturday robbery-turned-shooting

LAKE PLACID- The Lake Placid Police Department is seeking information into a robbery Saturday evening where the victim was shot, authorities said.

Lake Placid Police Chief James Fansler said they received a call around 8:50 p.m., in reference to a shooting that took place near the Lake Placid Depot Museum, located on Park Street near the railroad tracks.

The victim was approached by a black male, who was wearing pants, no shirt, and had his head and face covered, Fansler added.

The suspect asked the victim for money after brandishing a small firearm. The suspect then shot the victim after the money was handed over, Fansler said.

The victim was taken to Florida Hospital and treated for a non-life threatening wound.
