The Lake Placid Town Council recently approved on first reading two annexation ordinances, one involving properties along West Interlake Boulevard and the other affecting Lake Placid Villas and Interlake Apartments.

The town’s annexation efforts along West Interlake Boulevard include land parcels owned by eight different property owners.

Most of the properties are located on the south side of West Interlake Boulevard.

The property owners include: Lake June Realty Inc., Smoak Groves Inc. and Happiness Farms Inc.

The second annexation is geared toward the area of Lake Clay Drive South and Plaza Avenue; it includes Lake Placid Villas, Interlake Apartments, and property owned by Larry and Carol Watson and the trustee of Jo Ann Murphy.

Town Administrator Phil Williams said Lake Placid Villas is the first property being annexed with an agreement to receive town water service.

Williams said other property owners along West Interlake Avenue are “on board” to being annexed, but the agreements are moving along in different phases.
