Lake Placid school marks milestone one tile at a time

LAKE PLACID -Lake Country Elementary School in Lake Placid opened up in 1989 and now serves about 650 students.

To celebrate a special milestone ---its 25th anniversary -- the school is hosting a decorative tile project and wants the community to be a part of it.

The school is selling 4-inch-by-4-inch tiles, which will be decorated, and the finished tiles will be used to decorate the hallways.

The tiles will be on sale from Feb. 17 to 27, and cost $5 a tile.

This program is open to current and former students and staff members.

On Feb. 27, members of the community are invited to decorate their tiles between 3 and 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Current students and staff members will decorate their tiles on Feb. 28.

Once the tiles are decorated, they will be placed along the hallways as a "special tribute to 25 years of growing leaders . one child at a time."
