Published:

AVON PARK - A federal court has closed a civil case filed by a former employee against the City of Avon Park.

Sally Perry, represented by Lakeland attorney Rober Grizzard II, filed the lawsuit August 2012 in U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida, Fort Pierce Division.

She alleged that an unlawful search of her handbag was conducted by city employees during an inspection of a city vehicle.

Defendants in the case were the City of Avon Park and four city employees: Administrative Services Coordinator Brenda Sliva, Public Works Operations Manager Jimmy Runner, Public Safety Director Jason Lister and City Manager Julian Deleon.

Perry was a public works department employee.

On Sept. 3, U.S. District Judge Donald L. Graham ordered and adjudged that the case be removed from the court's trial calendar and closed.
