SEBRING - Golden Corral has decided not to build a new restaurant on land owned by the city near the Fire Department on U.S. 27.

In a letter to the city, Golden Corral said the land would be expensive to develop.

The city had agreed to sell the land for $348,000.

Golden Corral officials could not be reached for comment on plans for finding a new site.

The chain had a restaurant decades ago in Sebring, but it went out of business. Golden Corral's closest restaurant is in Lake Placid.
